Marine Dolphin & Seal Cruise

Search for the Namibian Marine Big 5: Every morning, the Atlantic offers a new mystery. Join our daily educational cruises to witness the clumsy charm of Great White Pelicans and the spirited antics of our local seal colonies. If the ocean is in a sharing mood, you may find yourself surrounded by leaping dolphins, breaching whales, the prehistoric Mola Mola, or a shy Leatherback Turtle surfacing for air. It’s more than a catamaran trip—it’s an encounter with Namibia’s aquatic legends.

The Ultimate Marine Safari: Your Morning Itinerary

08:30 | The Adventure Begins - Your journey starts at the vibrant Walvis Bay Waterfront. After a warm check-in at our jetty, we set sail between 08:45 and 09:00. As we glide away from the harbor, wrap your hands around a steaming cup of hot coffee or tea and prepare for an educational quest to find the Namibian Marine Big 5: Whales, Dolphins, Mola, Leatherback Turtles, and Seals.

09:30 | Pelican Point & The Seal Colony - As we glide toward the lighthouse at Pelican Point, we pass through the heart of Walvis Bay’s thriving oyster farms. Here, the nutrient-rich, icy currents of the Atlantic create the perfect environment for growing our world-famous oysters—the very same ones you will be tasting later in the morning!  We do a brief stop at the lighthouse at Pelican Point.  Here, the air is filled with the sounds of 60,000 resident Cape Fur Seals. Watch their boisterous antics from our decks as we prepare to round the point into the vast South Atlantic.

10:00 | Into the Blue: Dolphins & Deep-Sea Wonders - As we reach the open water, look for our "maritime acrobats." You may meet the friendly Bottlenose Dolphin, the fast and social Heaviside’s Dolphin—known for their joyous cartwheels—or the Dusky Dolphin, the ocean’s premier performer.

Keep a keen eye out for our more mysterious residents:

The Mola (Sunfish): A prehistoric-looking giant that can weigh up to 1,000kg.
The Leatherback Turtle: The world’s largest turtle, traveling thousands of kilometers to visit our waters.
The Hitchhikers: Pelicans, Cormorants, and Gulls often land right on our railings to "people-watch" as we sail!

10:30 | Seasonal Giants (July – November) - During whale season, the horizon belongs to the giants. We frequently encounter Humpback and Southern Right Whales migrating from the warm waters of the equator to the cold waters of Antarctica.  Watching these massive mammals breach is a memory that lasts a lifetime.

11:30 | A Taste of Namibia: The Atlantic Feast - As we head back through the bay—passing towering oil rigs and international ships—it’s time for our trademark lunch. Indulge in world-class Namibian oysters, crisp sparkling wine, and an array of savory snacks and sweet pastries. We also serve ice-cold local beers and soft drinks to toast to a perfect morning.

12:30 | Return to Shore We return you safely to the Waterfront jetty, leaving you with a full heart, a satisfied palate, and a camera full of memories.

Itinerary

Waterfront in Walvis Bay

We depart at 09h00 (check-in 08h30) every morning from our Jetty at the Walvis Bay Waterfront for a marine educational sightseeing tour in the bay area in search of the marine big 5: Whales, Dolphins, Mola, Leatherback turtle and seals.

Pelican Point

While serving hot coffee and tea, our initial route takes us past oyster farms as we approach Pelican Point with its landmark lighthouse and 50,000 resident cape fur seals.

In season (July to November), larger mammals such as the Southern Right Whale and Humpback Whales are often spotted, while other whale species, such as the Gray whale and the Pygmy Right whale have made appearances.

Bottlenose, heaviside and dusky dolphins are regularly seen, as are Mola Molas and Leatherback Turtles.

Accompanying our three catamarans throughout are a variety of seabirds, such as the Kelp Gull, Hartlaub's Gull, Pelicans and Cape Cormorant.

Back to Catamaran Charters HQ

Our journey from Pelican Point takes us past some of the more interesting ships in the bay as we serve fresh oysters with sparkling whine, snacks and desserts together with light drinks, cooldrinks and water.

We return to the waterfront at around 12h30.
